Bienvenidos Conquistadores Interplanetarios y del Espacio Sideral
Andrés Jurado Uribe | 95 min | 2024
EN | Welcome to the subtropical survival training in the Colombian jungle region of Darien. Here, Neil Armstrong and his team of astronauts prepare for their journey to the moon. Neocolonial fantasies merge with European visions of the future of lunar colonisation and US plans to exploit the region’s resources. A complex collage of found-footage emerges on the canvas, debunking Western notions of continued hegemonic domination of the Global South.
Tibio
Live music
+ vinyl-set by DJ Chucho Vinilo
+ free empanadas!
EN | Tibio blends champeta, cumbia, and electronic punk with half-broken drum machines and basslines that drag like the last song of a band that no longer exists. Improvised, clumsy dancing: let the tropical beats get stained with punk and the guitars go out of tune!
EN | This documentary delves into an educational methodology born in Cauca, in the municipality of Patía, with teacher Lola (María Dolores Grueso). Through the use of corridez, a synonym for madness, this method invites us to break the rules of the school institution and learn through our bodies, our surroundings, and our community.

EN | Political and social awareness blossom within a roadblock in midst of chaos and violence of the 2021 social outbreak in Colombia. Driven by the idea of fighting for their dreams through art, the community raises “The Monument to the Resistance”.
EN | Keke has the opportunity to move to Mars, and this means moving away from the communal life she leads with other black trans and queer people on Earth. It’s an opportunity to invent an ancestry versed in the inauguration of a new future, as well as in composing sketches of a dream.
EN | Mariana wants to go far away, far from Bogota, far from her family, but above all away from herself. Malta is a place where to start. Before she gets there she will have to delve in other territories.

MUSIC PROGRAM
during the day: Colombian food by Claudia's Delight!
Since 2015 we’ve shared alternative perspectives on Colombia, woven through time, flavors, communities, and artistic expressions. Our beloved audience and us have enjoyed music, film, performance, video installations, gastronomy, and visual arts: first in WORM Rotterdam, and since 2021 also in Filmhuis Cavia in Amsterdam.
For our Cinema Colombiano anniversary, we decided to add a third location: on the 18th of September, we will open the festival in Hotel Maria Kapel in Hoorn. And as a present to you, our visitors: the opening event is gratis. Aside from film and music, there will be free empanadas as well!
On September 20th we continue at Filmhuis Cavia in Amsterdam for two film blocks followed by a live accordion performance, and on September 27th, after a day of films, the festival closes down at WORM in Rotterdam with Colombian musician La Ruka and a club night organized together with CREMA.
Cinema Colombiano is a party, but it has also been a space for collective reflection. That’s why we want to take this 10th anniversary as a chance to imagine and plant seeds for the future. We will present futuristic films, as well as communities and artists who we believe will be the protagonists of the times to come. Because without a doubt, Colombia has so much to contribute to the future we long for: one without war, decolonial, and free.

A record hunter, DJ/selector and radio host born and raised in Barranquilla, a city on the Caribbean coast of Colombia with a powerful culture of celebration and where music is a sure path to joy and liberation. She currently lives in Berlin, and much of her sound that she shares is influenced by her musical roots and her migratory experience.
20 Uñas is the Alter Ego of Sandra Zegarra Patow, a Peruvian-born, Rotterdam-raised interdisciplinary artist. Her work flows between photography, mixed media, and music, always rooted in themes of identity, memory, and belonging. She began DJing in 2020 while on an artist residency in Peru during lockdown, where she realized that music could express what images alone could not. Her sets are emotional collages blending psychedelic Cumbia, reggaetón, Baile Funk, Guaracha, Perreo Underground, Dembow and experimental beats. 20 Uñas doesn’t stick to genres.
Her approach is borderless—geographically, culturally, and sonically—offering sensory experiences that celebrate heritage, movement, and collective presence. Through music, she continues to explore who she is, while creating space for the Latinx diaspora to feel seen, heard, and celebrated.
Archivist & DJ focussing on electronic dance music from South-America, Africa, and Asia. Dance to the sound of Digitized Kuduro CD’s or Baile Funk found on a USB-stick from Rio, Moroccan Techno from dusty cassette tapes, or hot Puerto Rican Reggaeton.
Besides DJ’ing, Rotational (Karim) also runs a YouTube channel filled with musical finds from all around the world. Dive into a global soundscape by visiting: youtube.com/@rotational_

In his role as a DJ, he’s committed to never give in to the obvious, betting on the least imaginable connections between Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America. Traveling around the globe for the past 15 years, always in search of the most surprising, irresistibly danceable records and the stories behind them, he’s built one of the most world-renowned record collections in the realm of Tropical music, which he showcases on all his DJ sets and his weekly program in the online radio streaming app ROVR. His sets feel like an adventurous ride, through territories you’ve probably never visited before. You will hear music you didn’t know existed. Music you didn’t know could make you dance like nobody's watching. You will be left in awe, with a refreshed and renewed sense of what “dance music” is supposed to mean.
After years of experimenting with his band Lola’s Dice (NYCT, Music with Soul and Bongo Joe), along with a passion for collecting vinyl, he embarked on an extensive journey to explore rhythms and sounds from around the globe. Hailing from Maracaibo, Venezuela, his spirit is deeply connected to the vibrant tropical beats of the Caribbean and the enchanting sounds of Africa.
